SPRING IN THE CITY

There is nothing quite as joyous as seeing the streets of your city become speckled with candyfloss-coloured trees as spring begins takes hold. The cold and dreary days of late winter are now long behind us (well, almost!) and we can look forward to going out and enjoying the sun. Especially with the recent easing of restrictions, now is the time to go outdoors and explore what your city has to offer. Here are a few of our suggestions of what to get up to this season.

Picnic in the Park

It is arguably one of the great British pastimes, going for a picnic in the warmer months. It is an opportunity to gather family and friends together around a hearty hamper full of cucumber sandwiches, scotch eggs and, if you are feeling fancy, maybe even a jam scone or two. For those who prefer their wicker baskets pre-stuffed, Bocca di Lupo and Fortnum & Mason both do delicious hampers to share.

Embrace Some Art

It is great news for all of the art-lovers out there as galleries have finally had the go-ahead to open. From David Hockney at the RA to Rodin at the Tate Modern, there are plenty of shows to replenish your cultural soul. Why not take an afternoon away from your screen and wonder through the collections of your local art museum.

What to wear:

Relax in a Pub Garden

Ah, the humble pub. How we missed their sticky carpets and musky fragrance. Never before have we been so happy to visit our local tap and order a round for our friends. We promise we won’t ever take them for granted again.

What to wear:

Visit the Theatre

At last, theatre is set to return to cities this spring thanks to new guidelines allowing socially distanced performances. Replace the small screen with live action by visiting some of the most-talked about shows this year. Regent Park’s Open Air theatre is kicking the season off with Romeo and Juliet whilst the National Theatre will be staging Under Milk Wood.

What to wear:

Dine Al-Fresco

Streets at the moment are awash with tables and chairs as outdoor dining has allowed friends to gather together with good food and booze whilst socialising safely. Some of our favourite al-fresco spots this spring include Chelsea’s The Sea The Sea, Islington’s, The Chapel Bar, and Kings Cross’ Lina Stores.
