ART: FROM WALL TO WARDROBE

Art occupies a special space in all of our lives. It has the ability to tap into our emotions and change the way we perceive the world around us. At Ellie Lines we like to utilise this unique quality to add a sense of joy and happiness to our store. We work with a handful of talented artists and designers to create beautiful garments and lifestyle accessories that we know you will love. Here are a few of our favourite pieces from these creatives.

Katy Smail

Ellie first met Katy through a styling job she was working on with her wonderful husband. They bonded over their same love of colour and the beauty of flower power. Her decorative florals and expressive patterns have brought an artistic flair to a range of projects across the globe, adding a little bit of magic wherever they go. We previously teamed up with Katy in order to design the prints for some of our much loved Carly, Alexa and Fiona dresses. The result was a pure celebration of vibrancy and joyfulness. We are really excited to now stock some of her beautiful original art on our online bazaar. Her floral canvas paintings are guaranteed to brighten any room, whilst 20% of sales from her Love and Peace posters are to be donated to the National Emergencies Trust Charity – bringing a smile to everybody’s face.

Maddy Taylor

Inspired by the bright landscape of Southern France, Squares & Things is a collection of original artwork and homeware designed by the model and illustrator Maddy Taylor. We originally met whilst shooting her for our Baby You Can Drive My Car campaign and immediately fell in love when her pieces. She works primarily with oil pastels and is guided by colour and abstract form. Her original A3 drawings are full Mediterranean zest and look beautiful framed on the wall. We also love her playful Tray of Sunshine, perfect for serving cocktails all year round.

Amy Powell

Ten years ago, textile designer Amy Powell took a life-changing trip to India where she discovered her passion for yoga. It became a part of her daily life as the way it enabled her to clear her mind and provide energy and motivation for the day ahead was a feeling that nothing had ever given her before. Then, in 2018, she decided to make it an even bigger part of life by launching Willow; a company focusing on bringing joy to people’s yoga practises through a beautiful range of mats and towels. Amy’s design background means that these are not just functional pieces – they are works of art in themselves. We adore her botanical prints and are delighted to have her as part of our store.

Lola

This list would not be complete without mentioning Lola, Ellie’s little niece. Our Lola Love print is derived from a beautiful painting that she once made for Ellie’s birthday and has featured on everything from our best-selling Carly dress to the Hendrix scarf. Her handwriting is also now part of our collection, being the font of choice for our new slogan t-shirts. Matisse-in-the-making? We think so.
