AUTUMN COCKTAIL RECIPES

September is a month of change. The nights get darker, leaves start to shift colour, and children across the country return to school to begin the new term. This seasonal transition reminds us that Summer cannot last forever and that the frosty days of winter are just around the corner. We write this piece on Autumnal equinox as the temperature starts to drop, there is no better time to seek out a warming drink that will help you feel cosy from inside-out. Here are some out favourite cocktail recipes to see you through the month.

Blackberry Bramble

Ingredients

  • 65g Fresh blackberries

  • 60ml Dry Gin

  • 30ml Blackberry Liquor

  • 30ml Maple syrup

  • 45ml Fresh lemon juice

  • Ginger Beer

Instructions

In a cocktail shaker, mix the blackberries with the gin, blackberry liquor, lemon juice, and maple syrup until they have broken up and released their juice.

Double strain, using a fine mesh strainer, to remove any seeds.

Fill 3-4 rocks glasses with ice. Divide the blackberry-gin mix among the glasses and top up with ginger beer. Garnish with a blackberry and lemon zest.

Apple Cinnamon

Ingredients

  • 120ml Gin

  • 120ml Apple Cider

  • 30ml Lime Juice

  • 30ml Honey

  • 30ml Hot Water

  • Dash Cinnamon

  • 1 Apple cut into thin slices

  • Springs of Thyme or Rosemary

Instructions

Pour the honey into the hot water and stir until dissolved

Combine this mixture with the gin, apple cider, lime juice, and cinnamon in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled.

Fill two glasses with ice and apple slices. Strain cocktail to glasses and garnish with sprigs of thyme or rosemary.

Cider Sidecar

Ingredients

  • 60ml Fresh Apple Cider

  • 60ml Cognac

  • 30ml Cointreau

  • 30ml Fresh Lemon Juice

  • Strip of lemon zest

Instructions

Place the cider, cognac, Cointreau, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker and top with ice.

Shake until the shaker starts to frost and feels very cold to the touch, 20 to 30 seconds.

Strain into glasses and garnish with the lemon zest.
