INSTAGRAM ARTISTS WE LOVE

Instagram is not only a place to share photos with friends, but also a place to discover new things that inspire you. Nothing brightens up your feed better than a beautiful picture made by an amazing artist you have only just found out about. Here at Ellie Lines we would like to share some of our favourite creatives.

@ktsmail

Katy Smail is an Edinburgh artist who loves to embrace colour in her work. Her decorative florals and expressive patterns have brought an artistic flair to a wide range of projects across the globe, from Grazia Magazine to Anthropologie. Her feed is a wonderland of flowery delight bound to put a smile on your face. You will also recognise some of her beautiful paintings on some of our dresses.

Here at Ellie Lines we have two loves: fashion and art. Luckily for us, London-based artist Rosie McGuinness combines the two together with her bright and fabulous array of fashion illustrations. From polka dot dresses to pretty little bucket hats, she approaches clothing with an individual eye and great artistic skill that results in fun and charming pieces of art.

@bodiljane

Taking inspiration from busy environments such as flea markets and botanical gardens, Bodil Jane’s illustrations are full of colour and character. The Amsterdam-based artist has built up a loyal online following thanks to her strong, graphic pictures and attention to detail. We particularly love the wide variety of subject matter in her work, from snakes to snacks.

@squaresandthings

Inspired by the bright landscape of Southern France, Squares & Things is a collection of original artwork and homeware designed by the model and illustrator Maddy Taylor. We originally met whilst shooting her for our Baby You Can Drive My Car campaign and immediately fell in love when her pieces. She works primarily with oil pastels and is guided by colour and abstract form. Also take a look at some of our favourite pieces we have in our online Bazaar.

@fridawannerberger

With almond eyes and pouty lips, Frida Wannerberger’s portraits are instantly recognisable. Their naive style and striking individualism have made them an Instagram hit with thousands of followers enjoying their quirky beauty. We love Frida’s attention to detail and her ability to turn any item of clothing into a fairy tale garment.

@mevlana_lipp

Cologne-based artist Mevlana Lipp bases his work on the enchantment of the natural world. With twisting vines and blooming flowers, his paintings are psychedelic floral visions. His use of bright neon colours juxtaposed against a dark background is particularly entrancing. What makes his work so special is the 3D element of his work, meaning that to truly appreciate his craftsmanship you must see them in real life.

@saintnoforever

I recently discovered American artist Saint No and instantly fell in love with No’s work. Chelsea art store Green and Stone sell some of the beautifully printed cards and on realising I had purchased quite a few of the same one, I had to search the artist. I am drawn to the simplicity of the simple black, white and red. (Very Jack white !) The inner cowgirl in me is totally in love with the mood and spirit. You can also wear the pieces of art if you take a look at wonderful independent store, Arden Market, who sell the limited edition serigraph bandana prints. Archivist Gallery also sell some of the cards and matchboxes that make fun gifts.

In the words of No, “Turn each day to gold “

@eleanorpercival85

Last but by no means least, Eleanor Percival is another wonderful artist I discovered in Green and Stone and am always buying her beautiful cards. Working with watercolour, ink and gouache, Eleanor’s work is inspired by myths, Renaissance paintings and her surroundings that capture her imagination. Every desk needs the With Love and Merci Beaucoup cards in their correspondence card stockpile. You can shop her pieces on her Etsy store. Flower Power love for every occasion.

We hope you love these as much as we do. We continue to share the things we love in our journal. Please get in touch and share some of the things that are continuing to inspire and uplift you.

Keep safe. Keep smiling. With love x
