CELEBRATING CRAFTSMANSHIP

In an increasingly digital age, there is something hugely gratifying about owning a piece of craftmanship. Beautiful objects that have been slowly created with thought and care by artisans present us with a tactile opportunity to appreciate the talent of others. These pieces also help to reduce waste and therefore play an important role in making our planet a happier and healthier one. With that in mind, here are some of our favourite hand-crafted items from the Bazaar.

Couper-et-Coudre

Couper-et-Coudre is a Bristol-based label specialising in handmade bags and accessorises. The brand’s name comes from the French verbs meaning ‘to cut’ and 'to sew’. This gives a nod towards their philosophy; thoughtfully designed products with attention to detail. Each piece is made-to-order and uses either Italian vegetable tanned or reclaimed leather and certified organic fabrics. We especially love their Harlequin bag, which is made from a patchwork of leather offcuts that have been individually stitched together.

Choochie Choo

Choochie Choo is a boutique accessory label set up by Ellie’s amazingly talented sister Carly. Each item is slowly crafted by hand to create stunning pieces of wearable art that are as individual as the wearer themselves. Just in time for the summer, their latest range of accessories include one-of-a-kind jewelled sunglasses that will help you to see the beauty in the world whilst turning heads at the same time. They are the perfect shades for any sun-loving go-getter.

Ellie Lines

Here at Ellie Lines, we appreciate the beauty and value in hand-crafted pieces. That is why we decided to introduce a range of bespoke scarfs to our collection. These style staples are a great way to dress up any outfit and are environmentally friendly, having been made from the last few pieces of fabric in our studio. Both the Hendrix and Square scarves are limited edition so once they are gone, they are gone.

Petra Boase

With Petra Boase, you can give the gift of craft itself. Their cowboy-boot card features a richly embroidered colourful patch that can be removed and ironed on to your favourite t-shirt or pair of vintage jeans. Whether it is to wish someone a happy birthday or to say a thank you, doing so with this card allows your recipient to get creative and make themself a new, unique piece of clothing.
